Lights Out
One tap changes five lights. Can you switch them all off?
No account · No downloadsThis free Lights Out puzzle uses a five-by-five board. Your goal is to leave every square dark. Tapping a square changes that square and its neighbors directly above, below, left and right. At an edge or corner, only the neighbors that exist are changed.
How to play Lights Out
- Look at the pattern of light and dark squares.
- Tap a square to switch its own state and the states of its horizontal and vertical neighbors.
- Continue until every light is off. Choose New round whenever you want a different board.
A tip for your next round
Each starting board is made by applying legal moves to an all-dark board, so it can be solved. A square only needs to be pressed zero or one time in a solution: pressing the same square twice cancels those two presses. You can also try working down the board, using the next row to clear lights in the row above.
Is the puzzle timed?
No. The counter records moves, and there is no time limit or penalty for thinking. This implementation uses a classic puzzle concept with its own code and interface. It does not download another publisher’s game.
